Sgt. Swinton Killed in Iraq During Detonation of Downed Iranian Drone
US Defense Department says Sgt. Michael Swinton, 30, of Fayetteville, NC, was killed in Iraq during a controlled detonation of a downed Iranian One-Way drone at Erbil airbase; two other soldiers, First Lt. Tyler Feehan and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, died in Jordan defending against Iranian missiles and drones, bringing total US fatalities in the war to 17 with hundreds injured. Swinton, an air-defense early warning system operator at Fort Bragg since 2017, was honored by leadership, and his widow, Mia Gonzalez-Swinton, posted a tribute on Facebook.
