The Iron Fire grew to more than 24,000 acres on Monday, burning across Juab, Utah County and Tooele Counties in central Utah.

The Iron Fire near Eureka, Utah, expanded to roughly 21,935–22,000 acres by Sunday and remains 0% contained, with Eureka still under evacuation. No homes have been lost thanks to backburning efforts, and a federal firefighting crew will assume command at 6 p.m. Sunday. Power outages are being addressed, the fire is human-caused, and Eureka’s population was about 662–828 in 2020; updates will follow as crews continue assessing conditions and strengthening fire lines.

A human-caused wildfire near Eureka, dubbed the Iron Fire, grew from about 1,000 acres to more than 5,000 as shifting winds pushed the blaze toward the town. A Complex Incident Management Team was set to brief on Sunday, while officials warned of threats to numerous structures and smoke affecting the Wasatch Front.

Evacuations are underway for ranches north of Eureka as the Iron Fire grows to more than 13,000 acres and sits about two miles from town; an evacuation center was established at 11201 W, and road closures are expected.
