Makhachev claims Topuria’s $20 million demand derailed UFC dream bout
Islam Makhachev says a potential unification fight with Ilia Topuria collapsed after Topuria’s camp reportedly demanded around $20 million, an eight-figure payout the UFC wouldn’t meet; Topuria’s manager gave a different account, but Makhachev maintains the talks ended due to the big payday and insists his hand injury wasn’t the reason. The White House event ended with Topuria losing to Justin Gaethje, and Makhachev is now set to defend his title against Ian Garry at UFC 330 on Aug. 15.
