Mossad Foils Cyprus Terror Plot, Captures Assassin in Iran
Israel's Mossad spy agency announced that it had captured an Iranian terrorist, Yousef Shahbazi Abbasalilo, who was sent to lead a planned terror attack against Israeli targets in Cyprus. The Mossad released a video of Abbasalilo's confession, in which he revealed that he was given weapons and instructions by senior officials in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The plot aimed to target Israeli businessmen in Cyprus. Abbasalilo's information led to the dismantling of the rest of the terror cell by Cypriot security forces. Recent years have seen several foiled Iranian attempts to kill Israelis in various countries, including Cyprus, Turkey, Georgia, and Greece.
