Activision to Delete Real Seoul Crush Footage from Call of Duty Amid Family Backlash
Activision will remove real footage of the 2022 Seoul crowd crush from 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4' by November 12. The game, which depicts a fictional North Korean invasion, used actual news clips of the Itaewon tragedy to show aftermath scenes. Bereaved families and civic groups condemned the move as disrespectful, prompting an apology from the publisher. The controversy emerged just days before the disaster's fourth anniversary, though the game remains a top seller in South Korea and the US.
