UW-Platteville halts men's cross-country season amid hazing probe
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville suspended its 2026 men's cross-country season and placed head coach James Akita on paid administrative leave following allegations of hazing and conduct violations. Chancellor Tammy Evetovich received initial reports on Sept. 1 and ordered the suspension on Sept. 4. The Universities of Wisconsin Administration Office of Compliance and Integrity is currently investigating the claims, with the university citing student privacy and policy compliance as priorities.
