Barry Keoghan Leads Top Boy Origins in Netflix Prequel Jonny Boy
Netflix has ordered two Top Boy extensions: a five-episode prequel titled Jonny Boy, starring Barry Keoghan as Jonny McGee and exploring his origin, with production set for 2027 and written by Ronan Bennett; a six-episode spinoff called Jaq led by Jasmine Jobson. Both projects were unveiled at the Edinburgh TV Festival, with Keoghan and Byrne among the executive producers and a slate of partners including Easter Partisan, Wolfcub, DreamCrew, and SpringHill Studios. Details of Jonny Boy’s plot are being kept under wraps while Jaq will continue Jobson’s character in a separate series.
