"Former Nun Demands Transparency in Investigation of Sexual Abuse by Jesuit Priest"

Gloria Branciani, one of the first women to accuse Jesuit artist Rev. Marko Rupnik of spiritual and sexual abuse, demands transparency from the Vatican and a full accounting of those who covered for him for 30 years. Rupnik's mosaics decorate churches worldwide, but he was kicked out of the Jesuit order last year after refusing to respond to allegations of abuse. Branciani is set to testify before the Vatican's Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, calling for the full story of the scandal and cover-up to be made public. The Vatican press office has received new documentation related to the case, and Branciani's lawyer hopes for greater transparency and accountability.

Defender Claims Unproven Abuse Claims in Expulsion of Jesuit Priest.

The head of the Aletti Center, a religious art and culture center founded by Jesuit priest Marko Ivan Rupnik, has defended him against allegations of sexual, spiritual, and psychological abuse against adult women. Rupnik is one of the most celebrated religious artists in the Catholic Church, and his mosaics decorate churches and basilicas around the world, including at the Vatican. The case posed a problem for the Vatican, the pope, and the Jesuits because of suspicions that the charismatic priest received preferential treatment by the Holy See, where a Jesuit pope reigns and Jesuit priests are in top positions at the sex abuse office.

Oregon High School Baseball State Championships Recap and Preview

West Linn defeated Jesuit 2-0 to win their second consecutive Oregon 6A baseball state championship. West Linn pitcher Drake Gabel out-dueled Jesuit’s Noble Meyer, a projected first-round pick in this summer’s Major League Baseball draft, tossing a 2-0 shutout before a packed house at Volcanoes Stadium to clinch a historic victory for the Lions. Gabel’s win made West Linn the first team to ever win back-to-back state championships in Oregon’s highest classification since the OSAA went from three classifications to five for baseball in 2007.
