West Linn defeated Jesuit 2-0 to win their second consecutive Oregon 6A baseball state championship. West Linn pitcher Drake Gabel out-dueled Jesuit’s Noble Meyer, a projected first-round pick in this summer’s Major League Baseball draft, tossing a 2-0 shutout before a packed house at Volcanoes Stadium to clinch a historic victory for the Lions. Gabel’s win made West Linn the first team to ever win back-to-back state championships in Oregon’s highest classification since the OSAA went from three classifications to five for baseball in 2007.
