Phillies land batting champ Arráez, reuniting with Luzardo to boost lineup
The Phillies acquired Luis Arráez from the San Francisco Giants ahead of MLB’s trade deadline, reuniting him with former teammate Jesús Luzardo in Philadelphia. Arráez, a .324 hitter and NL batting champion, will slide in at second base and bring high-contact at-bats and energy, prompting a defensive reshuffle (Harper to right, Stott to third, Bohm to first) as Philadelphia also added Caleb Kilian and Brooks Raley in other deadline moves. Arráez is a pending free agent after the season.
