Mariners Promote Kade Anderson as Diaz DFA’d to Create Roster Space

Seattle designated left-hander Jhonathan Diaz for assignment to clear 26- and 40-man roster space for top pitching prospect Kade Anderson, who will make his MLB debut today against the Cubs as Seattle plans a six-man rotation. Diaz appeared in one MLB game this season (1 1/3 IP, one earned run) after a 2026 Triple-A Tacoma run with a 6.22 ERA over 111 1/3 innings and 20 homers allowed. Anderson’s promotion marks his arrival to the majors amid health questions surrounding teammates Bryan Woo and Bryce Miller.
