The Red Sox option Brayan Bello to Triple-A Worcester and add lefty reliever Joe La Sorsa to the active roster for the Bronx series opener, after Bello’s rough start left him at a 6.34 ERA over 61 innings with a career-worst 1.48 HR/9. Bello has struggled especially vs. left-handed hitters (.323/.384/.554 in 147 PAs), and Boston has used lefty openers in front of him with limited success. Bello pushed back on the bullpen-vs-start talk, reiterating he’s a starter having a bad season.
