Chicago Officer Fatally Shot at Swedish Hospital, Identified as John Bartholomew
John Bartholomew, 38, a 10-year Chicago Police veteran assigned to the Albany Park district, was killed when a robbery suspect in custody opened fire at Swedish Hospital (5140 N. California Ave.); another officer was critically wounded as police pursued the escapee, who was later captured near the hospital. Charges had not yet been announced as of Sunday morning, and Swedish Hospital reopened later that day.
