Steve Jobs' 1968 Science Fair Project on Silicon-Controlled Rectifiers Sells for $34,375
A 1968 science fair project built by Steve Jobs for his eighth-grade class has sold at auction for $34,375. The lot, titled 'What is the SCR?', features a plywood display board with three panels explaining the silicon-controlled rectifier, including a wooden model of the component and functional test circuits. Accompanying the display is a 10-page report dated February 29, 1968, authored by Jobs for his teacher, Mrs. Yakel. The item was part of the 'Steve Jobs & the Computer Revolution: The Apple 50th Anniversary Auction Part Two,' which included nearly 150 Apple-related rarities. The project originated from the Jobs family home in Los Altos, where it remained after Jobs declined to retrieve personal belongings following the death of his father, Paul Jobs, in 1993. His stepbrother, John Chovanec, eventually took possession of the items and has since sold various pieces of Jobs' early memorabilia, including a 1977 Apple Computer poster and bow ties.
