Quincy Hy-Vee Sells Record Powerball Ticket; Manager Says, 'It Wasn't Me'
The Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh in Quincy, Illinois sold the winning Powerball ticket worth about $1.04 billion. Store manager Jon Marshall learned the news around 3 a.m. on Aug. 13 but says he did not win the jackpot himself; the store will receive a $500,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. The winner has a choice between a lump-sum payment and an annuity, and Illinois allows prize winners to remain anonymous for prizes over $250,000, so the winner’s identity may not be revealed.
