Mixed Reviews for 'Other Desert Cities' Revival Highlight Cast Divides
The Broadway revival of Jon Robin Baitz's 'Other Desert Cities' at the Hudson Theatre features a star-studded cast including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Ed Harris, Allison Janney, Lily Rabe, and Joe Keery. While the production is a major box-office draw, critical reception is sharply divided. The New York Times and The Guardian praise Louis-Dreyfus's debut and the cast's chemistry, whereas The Hollywood Reporter criticizes the uneven direction and lack of dramatic weight in the lead performances. Joe Keery receives universal acclaim for his role as Trip, while the play's 2004 setting is noted for its renewed relevance to current political divides.
