Payton: Broncos stay course with league protocol on Cooper return
Broncos coach Sean Payton said the team is staying the course with league and club protocol regarding linebacker Jonathon Cooper, who returned to practice after arrests and completed a counseling program as part of his path back. Payton, GM George Paton and owner Greg Penner met with Cooper and said he’s been working away from the building; they’ll monitor his progress. Cooper faces an August 31 arraignment on domestic violence-related charges, including second-degree assault by strangulation, and could face league discipline under the Personal Conduct Policy.
