Essex auditor to face sentencing after toddler’s fatal fall from Cyprus hotel window
Joshua Foster, a 37-year-old auditor from Essex, is set to be sentenced on October 16 in Cyprus after pleading guilty to causing the death of his two-year-old son. The toddler fell nearly 40 feet from a fourth-floor window at the King Evelthon Beach Hotel in Chlorakas on July 12. Court proceedings revealed that Foster placed the child on a windowsill to show him a view of a water park, not realizing the window was open. Foster had an alcohol concentration of 124mg per 100ml in his blood at the time of the incident. His lawyer described the event as a tragic accident during a family holiday, while the prosecutor noted the child was pronounced dead at Paphos General Hospital. Foster, who was held in custody for eight days, wept during the hearing where the facts were established. The maximum sentence for the charge of causing death through a reckless act is four years.
