Athletics reshuffle: Kurtz and Springs placed on IL as Ginn returns and Bowden DFA
The A’s announced several post-deadline roster moves: Nick Kurtz was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right-thumb capsule injury, and Jeffrey Springs went on the 15-day IL with right-hip discomfort. J.T. Ginn was reinstated from the IL and Max Muncy was recalled from Triple-A, while Ben Bowden was designated for assignment. Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas. Kurtz’s thumb issue has lingered and he’s coming off a rough stretch; Springs has struggled this season; Bowden’s DFA triggers a 5-day waiver window, and Zhuang will remain in the A’s system unless claimed.
