Sony Pictures will release Skeletons, a creature horror from JT Mollner starring Brie Larson, with J.J. Abrams producing. The film, based on Philip Fracassi’s Fail-Safe and revised by Mollner from an initial draft by Brian Duffield, began production last month after a bidding war at the European Film Market that Sony won over Universal, Paramount, Warner Bros. and Neon. The cast also includes Kyle Gallner, Daithí Ó Haragáin, Willa Fitzgerald, Ione Skye and John Goodman, and the story centers on a young boy’s relationship with his mother, who is kept in a cage every night, with a June 4, 2027 theatrical release planned.
Sony won worldwide rights for Skeletons at the European Film Market, a horror thriller produced by JJ Abrams with Brie Larson attached to star. JT Mollner will direct and co‑write from Philip Fracassi’s short story; the project — previously known as Fail-Safe — drew multiple bids, with domestic rights in the mid‑$20 millions and higher global figures.
