Reds Claim Versatile Oswaldo Cabrera, Place Spencer Steer on 60-Day IL
The Cincinnati Reds claimed utility player Oswaldo Cabrera off waivers from the New York Yankees, placing him on the active roster for the final home series. This move followed the placement of Spencer Steer on the 60-day injured list, which opened a 40-man roster spot. The Reds also recalled right-hander Julian Aguiar from Triple-A Louisville and placed reliever Julian Garcia on the 15-day injured list due to loose bodies in his right elbow. Cabrera, a 27-year-old switch-hitter, has performed well in the minors this season and offers defensive flexibility across all positions except catcher.
