"Creating a 'Badass' Priest: The Pope's Exorcist Filmmaking Journey"
Director Julius Avery talks about his inspirations for The Pope's Exorcist, a horror film starring Russell Crowe as a fictional version of Father Gabriele Amorth, the Vatican's Chief Exorcist. Avery wanted to be as fantastical as possible and likened the movie to Indiana Jones and Exorcist III. He hopes to do more with Amorth and his fellow priest, Father Esquibel, if the film does well. The Pope's Exorcist is in theaters now.
