Judge opts not to jail teen in cruise-ship homicide while awaiting trial
A federal judge in Miami declined to detain 16-year-old Timothy Hudson, who was indicted as an adult in the November 2025 killing and alleged sexual assault of his stepsister aboard a Carnival cruise ship, keeping him under electronic monitoring and living with his uncle pending trial. The decision cited family hardship and his compliance on release, while prosecutors argued he posed a danger and could be detained closer to home; a trial could begin as early as September.
