Bezos-led consortium takes minority stake in Liverpool FC, with path to majority
A Bezos-led consortium (1892 Holdings) will buy roughly one-third of Liverpool FC from Fenway Sports Group for about $7.1 billion, with an option to become majority owner at around $8 billion within the next 12 months. Amit Bhatia becomes vice chairman and joins the club’s expanded board, while Bezos won’t sit on the board; representatives from K5 Global and Elaine Saverin will. The investment aims to support Liverpool’s long-term growth with a global, tech-enabled ownership group.
