Duke of Kent Faces Double Bereavement as Secretary Dies Weeks After Wife
Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, is mourning the death of his private secretary, Nicholas Turnbull, just weeks after losing his wife. Turnbull died on September 16, 2026, at age 63, leaving behind two teenage sons. The Duke, who turned 91 on October 9, 2026, continues public duties despite the loss. King Charles appointed Turnbull to the Royal Victorian Order two days before his death. A palace source described the situation as a 'devastating blow' for the 91-year-old royal.
