Kinepolis Expands U.S. Theater Footprint with $30M Acquisition of Showcase Cinemas
Belgian theater operator Kinepolis agreed to buy 13 U.S. Showcase Cinemas from Harbor Lights Entertainment (formerly National Amusements) for $30 million in enterprise value, expanding its North American presence with seven Massachusetts, four New York, one Ohio, and one Rhode Island locations. The deal, largely backed by the venues’ real estate value, adds 164 screens (about 17,800 seats) and roughly 4 million customers in 2025, with over $90 million in revenue, and is expected to close by late summer. Kinepolis will retain the Showcase brand, while Harbor Lights/National Amusements reorganizes assets ahead of a broader Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery context and debt considerations stemming from that merger.
