Berlin Philharmonic’s Carnegie Hall Season Opener Delayed by 90-Minute Medical Emergency
The Berlin Philharmonic’s 2026-27 season opener at Carnegie Hall was delayed by nearly 90 minutes due to a medical emergency involving a guest. The concert eventually proceeded with conductor Kirill Petrenko and tenor Jonas Kaufmann, though the program was altered to exclude a piano encore and shorten intermission. While Slippedisc highlights the chaotic delay and executive indecision, OperaWire focuses on the artistic quality of the performance, praising the orchestra’s Respighi interpretations and Kaufmann’s vocal return to New York.
