Ukraine hits Russian weapons plant and oil refinery with Flamingo missiles
Ukraine says it struck Russia’s JSC VNIIR-Progress weapons facility in Cheboksary with domestically built Flamingo missiles, hitting a plant that makes relay protection, automation gear and Kometa EW components after flying roughly 1,500 km; the operation also targeted Kirishi’s KINEF oil refinery with fires observed and drones downed. Russia reported casualties, while Kyiv provided no public casualty figures. The strikes are part of a broader campaign across Russia ahead of Victory Day, and the Flamingo is a 1,000‑kg warhead missile with a 3,000 km range that Kyiv has used more frequently since late 2025.
