Ducks Waive Kreider to Open Cap Space for Free Agency
Anaheim is set to place Chris Kreider on waivers to terminate his contract, a move Kreider approved as he seeks an East Coast team closer to family. The Ducks matched Leo Carlsson’s extension, leaving about $9M in cap space but needing to clear roughly $6M to sign other players like Cutter Gauthier. Kreider, 35, had 22 goals and 50 points last season and would enter free agency with a chance to sign with any team, potentially avoiding a trade and leaving the Ducks with more flexibility for the upcoming season.
