Lake Washington fish die-off tied to Crosslake rail electrics triggers interim fix
Thousands of fish were found dead in Lake Washington, likely electrocuted by electrical currents from Sound Transit’s Crosslake light-rail system touching the lakebed. In response, crews lifted 32 anode strings off the lakebed as an interim mitigation while regulators and fish biologists investigate the cause and assess permanent fixes; the system’s safety for humans remains under review and several species of federally protected fish are involved in ongoing monitoring.
