Lake Washington fish deaths linked to Crosslake rail cathodic protection system
Thousands of fish, including federally protected salmon, have died in Lake Washington near the new Crosslake light rail line. The deaths are likely caused by anode strings from the bridge’s cathodic protection system touching the lakebed. Sound Transit has lifted the strings as an interim fix but is still investigating the root cause and developing a permanent solution.
