Springsteen’s Concert Film Frames America’s Flag Moment in a Time of Turmoil

Bruce Springsteen discusses the Land of Hope and Dreams concert film shot during his US tour, outlining how the set recontextualizes decades of songs around a flag-waving, politically charged moment. The film, directed by Chris Hilson and Thom Zimny, is being released in installments on YouTube and centers on songs like War, Born in the U.S.A., and Darkness on the Edge of Town, framed by Springsteen’s opening speech about reclaiming the flag and addressing contemporary events (including the Minsk-inspired tension and Iran conflict) while delivering a nation-wide state-of-the-nation vibe through carefully curated song choices.
