Singapore imposes fines for loud audio and other bus disruptions
Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has introduced new legal penalties for disruptive behavior on public buses, effective September 23, 2026. Passengers may face fines of up to SGD 500 for actions such as playing loud audio, eating, or placing feet on seats. More serious offenses, including causing danger or soiling transit infrastructure, carry fines up to SGD 5,000. These rules align bus regulations with existing Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) standards, shifting enforcement from driver discretion to official legal notices issued by authorized staff.
