Ladera Ranch halts landscape chemicals as pediatric cancer spike prompts federal inquiry
Ladera Ranch, a wealthy Southern California community, has seen multiple pediatric cancer diagnoses since 2013, including Ewing sarcoma and a teen’s death from secondary leukemia. In response, LARMAC ordered a 60‑day pause on routine landscape products used for weed management and plant growth regulation in common areas and formed an Ad Hoc Landscape Pest Management Advisory Committee to review the program.
