Tropical Storm Rachel triggers record rainfall and widespread flooding across Las Vegas Valley
Remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel caused significant flooding across the Las Vegas Valley on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The storm brought over an inch of rain to the west side of the valley, prompting a Flash Flood Warning, while the east side received an additional half-inch. Harry Reid International Airport recorded 1.08 inches of rain, setting a new daily record that surpassed the previous 2012 high of 0.78 inches. Floodwaters stranded vehicles and forced road closures, including on Koval Lane, Winnick Avenue, and Primm Boulevard near the Nevada-California state line. A Flood Watch and Wind Advisory remained in effect through 5 a.m. Monday. While the Las Vegas area faced inland flooding, the storm also impacted Southern California, where Long Beach experienced coastal erosion and boardwalk damage due to heavy surf.
