Latino Voters Abandon GOP in 2026 Midterms Amid Economic and Immigration Grievances
Latino voters are rapidly shifting back to the Democratic Party ahead of the November 2026 midterm elections, reversing the gains Republicans made in 2024. New polling shows Democrats leading by 57% to 31% on the generic congressional ballot among this demographic, with a 62% to 38% lead in battleground districts. This swing is driven by dissatisfaction with rising fuel prices, welfare cuts, and aggressive immigration enforcement. While Republicans argue that Latino voters remain supportive of border security, Democrats and independent analysts note that economic anxiety and ICE actions have eroded trust, threatening Republican control of the House in key states like California, Texas, and New Jersey.
