Arizona Rep. Alma Hernandez Fortifies Home After Escalating Death Threats
Arizona State Representative Alma Hernandez has significantly fortified her home with security measures, including iron bars, cameras, and a fingerprint lock, after receiving numerous violent and death threats. These threats, linked to her political positions and legislative work since 2019, have altered her daily life and influenced her policymaking. Hernandez has expressed that the risks of public office have become untenable, questioning whether the role is worth the danger. Her brother now lives with her for protection, and she has removed trees from her yard on police advice to prevent intrusions. The situation highlights the increasing safety concerns for elected officials in the United States.
