Valve allegedly leaked its own Left 4 Dead 2 trailer to dodge ESRB rules
In 2009, Valve reportedly seeded a “leaked” Left 4 Dead 2 trailer to avoid ESRB marketing restrictions; former Valve writer Chet Faliszek described the move, noting it bypassed the board’s rules at the time. The trailer’s footage later became the game’s intro, and ESRB guidelines have since liberalized to allow trailers that reflect the game’s content.
