Athletics infield prospect Leo De Vries will undergo an anterior labrum repair on his right shoulder, likely sidelining him for about eight months and delaying his 2027 timeline after a standout Double-A season (13 HR, .290/.378/.458). The injury compounds Oakland’s injury-plagued year and could influence their offseason plans at second/third base as they adjust prospect and roster priorities.
The American League defeated the National League 6-1 in the 2026 MLB Futures Game at Citizens Bank Park, highlighted by five standout prospects: Jesús Made, Kade Anderson, Leo De Vries, Seth Hernandez and Nathan Flewelling. Made, widely regarded as baseball’s top prospect at 19, flashed premium bat speed; Anderson exhibited a deep, effective repertoire and high strikeout potential; De Vries showed speed and contact as a 19-year-old shortstop; Hernandez, a 19-year-old right-hander, touched 99 mph with a strong changeup; Flewelling, a catcher, belted the game’s lone homer and earned Futures Game MVP honors. The AL’s win marked its first Futures Game victory since 2022, with the NL still leading the series 4-2-1.
