Peru's First Captive Leopard Cubs Delight Visitors with Tree Climbing Skills
The first two leopard cubs born in captivity in Peru made their public debut at a zoo in Lima, climbing trees and captivating visitors. The male and female cubs, just over 3 months old, were seen walking in circles and displaying their small fangs. Their parents were brought to Peru from Mexico in 2021, and the cubs have been recently introduced to meat after being fed milk. The newborns, classified as a vulnerable species, are the only known leopards living in Peru. The zoo plans to hold a contest for the public to name the cubs.
