Steelers Trim Roster by Waiving Wentz and Davis Ahead of Cutdown
The Pittsburgh Steelers waived wide receiver Levi Wentz and linebacker Jamin Davis as they continue to pare their roster toward the Aug. 30 53-man deadline, bringing their cuts to 12 and 13 players respectively after a preseason loss to the Bills. Wentz showed flashes but faced stiff WR competition, while Davis, a later signing, couldn't carve out a spot in the inside linebacker group. The Steelers may consider bringing Davis back to the practice squad if Holcomb isn’t retained, and with the Broderick Jones trade they still have about 24 moves left to finalize the 53-man roster.
