LG Blocks Smart TV Apps That Turn Televisions Into Residential Proxies
LG Electronics USA will suspend any webOS apps that make TVs act as residential proxy nodes after Spur’s study found many LG (and Samsung) smart-TV apps embed proxy SDKs; the company is asking developers to remove the feature and will suspend noncompliant apps as part of a broader effort to keep residential proxies off its platform and improve user privacy, with LG’s review of apps described as well underway.
