Limoges City Hall Arson Suspect Arrested as France Prepares for Second Wave of Riots
A 34-year-old suspect linked to far-left groups was arrested in France following the arson of the historic Limoges city hall during nationwide riots. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu accused far-left factions of an 'insurrectionary' plan, while Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez admitted police lost control in some areas. Authorities have imposed curfews in Paris, Marseille, and other cities, with 149 people jailed and over 2,500 arrested. President Emmanuel Macron declined Nuñez's resignation but acknowledged security failures. As a second round of protests, dubbed 'Acte II,' is planned for October 24, the U.S. State Department warned of potential clashes near Marine Le Pen's party convention. The unrest, fueled by cost-of-living grievances, has drawn international attention, with Trump blaming immigration and the UN calling for lawful police responses.
