Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) has announced several street closures and traffic restrictions beginning Monday, September 21, 2026. The closures affect Centennial Mall, 56th Street, Van Dorn Street, and O Street for various construction and utility projects. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes and exercise caution, as schedules may change due to weather.
Lincoln Transportation and Utilities has completed clearing roads after a recent snowstorm, but some residents, like Amanda Vodraska, feel that more needs to be done, especially in clearing snow from bus stops and sidewalks. LTU officials stated that residents are responsible for clearing sidewalks and bus stops on their property, suggesting they arrange for help if needed. Vodraska hopes that bus stops will be prioritized to assist those with mobility challenges. The city recommends utilizing the Snow Angels Program for assistance and making service requests online if additional attention is needed for plowed streets. Winter operations will resume on Tuesday morning.
