Russia's UN Security Council Presidency Sparks Controversy and Criticism
U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield has stated that Russia "should not be" a permanent member of the UN Security Council due to its actions in Ukraine, but acknowledged that the UN charter does not allow for a change in its permanent membership. She also expressed doubts about Russia's behavior during its upcoming presidency of the Security Council, stating that Washington thought Moscow would "seek opportunities to advance their disinformation campaign against Ukraine, the United States, and all of our allies."
