Commanders Eye Strategic Depth Moves for Cowboys Rematch

After a 24-22 loss to the Eagles, Washington could lean on depth for the Cowboys, elevating Rasul Douglas to No. 2 cornerback, using Mike Sainristil mainly in the slot, expanding Antonio Williams’ role as a third receiver, giving Ben Sinnott a targeted tight end role, and letting Quan Martin see occasional snaps as a defensive option if needed; the piece cautions against overreacting and treats these tweaks as measured, not wholesale, changes.

Cubs Set for a Lineup Shakeup Amid Offense Slump

The Cubs’ offense has been stuck in a funk at Wrigley Field, and manager Craig Counsell says lineup changes are coming. Top prospects Kevin Alcantara and Pedro Ramirez have recently been called up (with PCA, Pete Crow-Armstrong, possibly leading off in some lineups), and a day off for Ian Happ could be in play as part of the adjustments. While the shakeup aims to spark momentum, it’s unlikely to solve all issues immediately.

Knicks prep lineup pivots for Game 3 if Anunoby sits

OG Anunoby’s hamstring issue is described as very minor and day-to-day, but if he can’t go in Game 3, the Knicks face several lineup adjustments. Miles McBride is the most likely starter replacement, potentially shadowing Tyrese Maxey while Bridges handles other wings. A second option is a double-big look with Mitchell Robinson alongside Karl-Anthony Towns, which would shift defensive matchups and rotations. Bench changes would bring Landry Shamet back into action, with possible minutes for Ariel Hukporti or Jeremy Sochan if bigger lineups are used. In short, Anunoby’s absence would create multiple moving parts on both ends of the floor.

Stagecoach winds trigger evacuation and brief lineup shake-up

Strong winds forced Stagecoach in Indio to pause Saturday night with an emergency evacuation; the festival later reopened around 9 p.m. as organizers adjusted the lineup—Journey and Riley Green were canceled, while Lainey Wilson was moved to a later 10:30 p.m. set. The event was postponed until further notice and attendees were urged to exit quickly as a wind advisory remained in effect for Indio through Sunday morning, with some security-exit blocks briefly affecting the evacuation.

UT's Newstrom sidelined for MSU series amid internal matter

Chris Newstrom is sidelined for Tennessee’s three-game series at Mississippi State due to an internal matter, with the absence not expected to be long-term. He’s batting .180 in 26 games (15 starts) and hasn’t started since March 22, going 0-for-18 in SEC play. Tennessee (21-12, 4-8 SEC) faces No. 9 Mississippi State (26-7, 7-5) in Starkville, as coach Josh Elander says the team will continue to give him opportunities as he works to improve.

Giants' Vitello gamble hits rocky early stretch

San Francisco's hire of Tony Vitello, a college coach with no pro experience, is facing an early test after three winless games and just one run scored; observers point to unconventional lineup changes and clubhouse dynamics as signs of growing pains, arguing for patience, steadier communication, and time for players to find a rhythm. The outcome could shape MLB's openness to college coaches depending on whether Vitello adapts or becomes a cautionary tale.
