Linux Kernel Ditches Strncpy After Six-Year Cleanup With 360+ Patches
The Linux 7.2 kernel has finally eliminated the deprecated strncpy API after six years and about 360 patches, replacing it with safer alternatives like strscpy, strscpy_pad, strtomem_pad, memcpy_and_pad, or memcpy for known-length copies to fix long-standing NUL-termination and performance issues.
