Elijah Bieniemy, 27, the son of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was arrested in Ashburn, Virginia, after allegedly shooting his mother, Mia Bieniemy. He had previously called police from the family home claiming his parents refused to return his guns. He faces charges including malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling, and is being held without bond awaiting a mental-health competency evaluation before a preliminary hearing. His mother was hospitalized but in stable condition; Chiefs coach Andy Reid and the organization have offered support for the family.
