Forehand Sets the Pace in a Bonkers Freeski Big Air Qualifier at Milan Cortina 2026

American Mac Forehand led a wild men’s freeski big air qualifying at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics, landing a switch left triple cork 1980 and a left nose-butter triple cork 1620 for 183.00 total to top the standings and earn a last-pair start in the final. Fellow U.S. skiers Troy Podmilsak (10th) and Konnor Ralph (12th) also made the 12-skier cut with strong runs. Europe-led contenders Matej Svancer (Austria), Birk Ruud (Norway) and Tormod Frostad followed in the top spots, with Ruud opting to skip his final attempt. Forehand learned and plans to attempt another nose-butter triple cork 1980 in the final. The men’s final is set for Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 1:30 p.m. ET and will be streamed on Peacock and NBCOlympics.com.
