Mexico rejects Royal Caribbean water-park plan after massive petition
Mexico's SEMARNAT rejected Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day water-park proposal for Mahahual due to ecological balance and reef concerns, after a Change.org petition gathered over 4.8 million signatures. Royal Caribbean said it is disappointed but will re-engage stakeholders and pursue environmentally responsible investment, with the project previously pitched as a sustainable destination expected to open around 2027.
