LePage leads in Maine 2nd District as Golden’s exit triggers $26M ad war
Former Maine Governor Paul LePage is the favored candidate to replace retiring Representative Jared Golden in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District. LePage, a hard-line conservative, faces progressive State Auditor Matt Dunlap in a race that has attracted over $26.5 million in ad spending. National Republican groups have poured millions into the district, viewing it as a rare opportunity to flip a seat that previously elected a Democrat despite voting for the president three times. The race highlights a shift from Golden’s centrist approach to a more polarized contest.
