Greek Priest Tabakis Defends Past Actions Amid Backlash Before Drone Metal Debut
Greek Orthodox priest and drone metal artist Father Dionysios Tabakis issued a statement addressing accusations of fascism and homophobia following the resurfacing of old blog posts and a 2013 ceremony for the neo-Nazi group Golden Dawn. The controversy emerged just before his first live performance at Philadelphia’s Making Time festival. Tabakis clarified that he performed the ceremony as an official duty when Golden Dawn was a legal political party, while maintaining that his views on homosexuality align with traditional Orthodox Church teachings, emphasizing love and acceptance for individuals.
